You may think that you can fool him. You may even think that you can run slow in the beginning and then take that shortcut and run full out to the end to make it believable that your pace was good. There are a lot of reasons that you think you can cut the run in P.E., but the truth is coach knows when you cut the run. It's like eagle vision or something, it can't be explained.
